Acts he tells us that ‘two men dressed in white’ appear. ‘“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”’ (Acts 1:11) At the end of his Gospel Luke makes no mention of the angels and their message. Why is that? It is because the ascension story at the end of Luke’s Gospel frames that Gospel: the story begins with the coming of Jesus from heaven and ends
