If there were a doctrine in the Bible that had been taught and practiced by many but that was widely ignored and frequently misunderstood by Christians, would you want to know about it? Biblical separation is just such a doctrine, and Set Apart undertakes to explain it carefully.

We will define a conservative evangelical as an evangelical who does not accept the classic new evangelical idea of interaction and cooperation with liberals and who does not tolerate the doctrinal aberrations that have emerged in broad evangelicalism, such as denying inerrancy. Yet, as shown by their cooperation with broader evangelicals and their own practices, conservative evangelicals do not accept the pattern of biblical separation that we have described in this book.44 It is important that
