Christian practice and holy life is a sign of sincerity to others. The Word clearly tells us that in this respect this is the main evidence of grace. Christ, who knew better than anyone how we should judge others, said: “You will know them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:16). He seems to be saying, in other words, that it makes no sense for the fruit to be different than the tree, since the fruit tells us what the tree is like. The fruit is the proof that distinguishes one tree from another (Luke 6:44).
