In Psalm 51, David said that he had sinned against God. In this passage David is reflecting on his sins that involved Bathsheba (adultery) and her husband (assisted to murder). Yet, he cries in reference to God, “Against thee and thee only have I sinned.” Obviously, in a sense there were other humans involved and even hurt as a result of David’s choices; yet ultimately, his sin was against God. It is important to recognize that all sin and disobedience is on some level directed against the Lord God
