It was this kind of vision, this ability to see, this wisdom that transcends the learning of man, which became for Solomon the pure gold of life. God granted it to him. Solomon placed it in the soil of Proverbs near the end of the book. He wrote, “Without revelation we perish.” A more complete translation of this text reads, “Without a prophetic vision the people dwell carelessly.” Solomon’s words imply that unless we have supernatural revelation, we will live in a world limited by our own definitions
