Prophetic anticipation is the third feature seen in Christ’s Great Commission. The disciples were sent with the authority of the Lord on apostolic mission. They were to make disciples of “all the nations.” Nations is best understood to refer to the tribes, families, and peoples of the world. It reverberates with the promise of God to Abram: “In you all the families of the earth will be blessed” (Gen. 12:3).
