Exclusivism is the view that salvation is limited to those who exercise personal faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior. Unlike universalists, exclusivists believe many—actually, most—people will be condemned to an eternity in hell. Unlike pluralists, exclusivists believe that hell will be populated by sincere followers of other religions. Like inclusivists, exclusivists also maintain that no one can be saved apart from the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross. But the major contrast between
