always do what we most desire to do.5 You might say, “No way, that’s not true. I don’t enjoy waking up and going to school or work every morning.” Oh, but you do. You enjoy making money and living comfortably more than you enjoy a little extra sleep. And so you go off to work. You always do what you most desire to do. We are desire-driven creatures, and will always desire, enjoy, and act upon our highest perceived good. Blaise Pascal said it this way: “We forsake pleasures only for others which are greater.”6
