And when the people of God see their leader slacking off in these matters, their confidence wanes. Their loyalty lags. Confusion replaces motivation. Lethargy replaces morale, and the enterprise begins to die. Some years ago I was walking with a leader of a Christian mission. He was complaining to me that the men he had on his team were not following him. Some were not showing up for meetings. They weren’t listening to him. Even in their spiritual discussions, the men seemed indifferent to his comments.
