That, in fact, is one of the most important arguments of this book. The trunk and branches of church government grow out of the seed of the gospel. The gospel makes certain demands on the saints and their togetherness. Certain matters of organization are elastic and context dependent, but the fundamentals of church order are inextricably tied to the gospel faith. For instance, this book will argue that the gospel establishes a rule of equals. Yes, different jobs will be assigned in that society.
