The Day of Atonement (yom kippur) is the holiest day on the Hebrew calendar. It occurs 10 days after the Feast of Trumpets, following the “days of awe.”8 In Leviticus 16 it represents the high point in the unit dealing with the sacrifices (chaps. 1–17).
