teach “them to observe [practice, implement, follow, demonstrate] everything I have commanded you.” When I have an opportunity to speak to pastors, I often ask them to recall for me a few of Christ’s commands. Most often they are caught off guard. Many are slow to respond at first, then after a few moments they begin to draw out some of the passages Christ commanded such as: • “And whoever wants to be first among you must be a slave to all” (Mark 10:44). • “I tell you, love your enemies and pray
