History is clear that, in most endeavors, success is a product of uncompromising attention to purpose. The team of Flight 232 could certainly be described along those lines. Clearly, the circumstances of Flight 232 were unique. No organization would want to pay the price needed to achieve that level of focus. However, if the typical business team could achieve just a small portion of the unity of purpose held by Captain Haynes and his team, they would move a long way toward exceptional performance.
