“I’ve always thought that evangelical Christians just didn’t get it,” he remarked. “Mormons and Jewish synagogues have these tight-knit communities—and they’re an amazing business resource for them. Evangelicals have all the same community and I’ve always wondered why they don’t put it to work. But now I’m realizing there’s something here that’s so much more than that.” As he began to investigate that “something” beyond quid pro quo relationships, he began studying the Gospel of Mark with a member
