Multiple contrasts are expressed in those two lines—wounds vs. kisses (representing criticism vs. flattery), friend vs. enemy, and (implied) the constructive intention (“faithful”) of the friend’s criticism vs. the deceptive flattery represented by the “profuse” gestures of good will from an enemy.
