Speaking of the beloved maiden’s beauty, Solomon asked the question, “Who is this that appears like the dawn, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, majestic as the stars in procession?”68 Christ and His beloved share the glory depicted by the sun.69 The sun and moon are temporary shadows that point to a divine reality, which is fulfilled in God Himself.70 In Genesis 1:14, we are told that the sun and the moon are to divide the day from the night. This reminds us of Paul’s words in 1 Thessalonians 5:5:
