For his gospel, Luke—a medical doctor—interviewed eyewitnesses and carefully investigated the disciples’ claims “so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught” (1:4 NASB). Knowledge led to truth. Truth led to confidence. Confidence bolstered faith. At the same time, the Bible proclaims a deeper reality beyond knowledge of the natural world.
