Wisdom Is Correction and Understanding (1:2) Proverbs 1:2 says the purpose of the book is to know “wisdom and discipline,” or “understanding and correction.” Wisdom is the kind of knowledge that helps you know what is going on around you. Are you able to read situations and people correctly? If not, you need discipline.1 This requires the humility to recognize that you don’t know everything and to receive counsel from another. How do you respond to correction, to teaching, to counsel? That has a
