religion is the head knowledge of spiritual things, relationship is the heart, connecting with the things of the spirit. It is possible to be religious while not having any personal relationship with God. This kind of religious experience is empty and frustrating. Many people grow up in homes that teach religion in some form or another. I did. I grew up in a home where Sunday church attendance was an absolute priority, but we never talked about God in our home except during a small handful of emergencies.
