tradition replaces God’s Word, then illusion replaces reality. We glory in the past but never grow in the present. Great value can be found in celebrating meaningful traditions that are handed down from generation to generation. Every nation, city, and family has them. The English word tradition comes from the Latin traditio and simply means “to hand over.” When Paul commended the believers in Corinth for “holding to the traditions” (1 Cor. 11:2), he was referring to the commands he had received from
