The disciples were a lot like us modern Christians in that they listened to Jesus’ words constantly and yet still believed things he continually warned them not to believe and trusted in things he continually warned them not to trust. Even as Peter was chopping off the guard’s ear, he was showing he didn’t get it. He still thought the kingdom would come by violence.
