Today my problem-solving method follows a 10/80/10 pattern, where I try to do the first and last 10 percent of the problem solving and have others contribute 80 percent of it. The first 10 percent is often focused on defining the problem for all of us. The next 80 percent of my time and effort is spent on listening to my team’s ideas and facilitating their thinking.
