Terms are not the only key to biblical themes.1 For example, more is required for a study of the kingdom than simply picking up a concordance and looking up βασιλεία (kingdom) and its related verbal forms. Likewise a study of the covenants requires more than an examination of passages containing the term διαθήκη (covenant), and a study of promise involves more than the texts where ἐπαγγελία (promise) occurs.2 A thorough treatment of any theme
