revelation of Jesus Christ….” The word “revelation” is a translation of the Greek word apokalypsis, which means “an unveiling.” It is not a new word in the New Testament, for it occurs eighteen times (Luke 2:32; Gal. 1:12; 2 Thess. 1:7; 1 Pet. 1:7; etc.). The word means “to show or expose to view,” as the unveiling of a painting is a “revelation.” This book, then, is the unveiling of Jesus Christ.
