never, ever abandons his people, but he’s faithful to the bitter end, no matter the cost. This pairing of “love” and “faithfulness” is used all over the Bible. In Psalms alone, the word hesed itself is used 126 times. For example, in Psalm 89, the poet writes: I will sing of the LORD’s [Yahweh’s] great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.3
