It acknowledges, as pastor and writer Alan Hirsch has said, that “although we frequently say ‘the church has a mission’. . . a more correct statement would be ‘the mission has a church.’ ”3 The apostle Paul goes to great lengths in his letters to communicate that accomplishing the mission of God is a team sport. Together, every congregation is the physical body of Christ on earth; individually, every person is an integral member of that body (1 Corinthians
