Richard Evans makes the telling point that if all “narratives” have equal validity, then so does the Nazi. On their own criteria, the postmodernists have no grounds for saying that the Jewish belief in the absolute moral horror of the Holocaust is preferable as a “narrative” over and above the Nazis who say that to exterminate six million Jews—not to mention twenty million Russians, Gypsies, Lutheran pastors, and others—is perfectly all right.
