Ezra 5:1–5
5 Now Haggaiw the prophet and Zechariahx the prophet, a descendant of Iddo, prophesiedy to the Jews in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, who was over them. 2 Then Zerubbabelz son of Shealtiel and Joshuaa son of Jozadak set to workb to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. And the prophets of God were with them, supporting them.
3 At that time Tattenai,c governor of Trans-Euphrates, and Shethar-Bozenaid and their associates went to them and asked, “Who authorized you to rebuild this temple and to finish it?”e 4 Theya also asked, “What are the names of those who are constructing this building?” 5 But the eye of their Godf was watching over the elders of the Jews, and they were not stopped until a report could go to Darius and his written reply be received.

3 At the same time Tattenai the governor of the province Beyond the River and Shethar-bozenai and their associates came to them and spoke to them thus: “Who gave you a decree to build this house and to finish this structure?” 4 They also asked them this: “What are the names of the men who are building this building?” 5 But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, and they did not stop them until the report should reach Darius and then an answer be returned by letter concerning it.

And the prophets of God were with them and helped them.
3 But Tattenai, governor of the province west of the Euphrates River, and Shethar-bozenai and their colleagues soon arrived in Jerusalem and asked, “Who gave you permission to rebuild this Temple and restore this structure?” 4 They also asked for the names of all the men working on the Temple. 5 But because their God was watching over them, the leaders of the Jews were not prevented from building until a report was sent to Darius and he returned his decision.

2 Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, began to work. So did Jeshua, the son of Jehozadak. They began to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. The prophets of God were right there with them. They were helping them.
3 At that time Tattenai was governor of the land west of the Euphrates River. He and Shethar-Bozenai and their friends went to the Jews. They asked them, “Who authorized you to rebuild this temple? Who told you that you could make this building like new again?” 4 They also asked, “What are the names of the men who are putting up this building?”
5 But the God of the Jews was watching over their elders. So they didn’t have to stop their work. First a report would have to be sent to Darius. Then they would have to receive his answer in writing.
