The Sons of David

3:1–4pp—2Sa 3:2–5 3:5–8pp—2Sa 5:14–16; 1Ch 14:4–7

3These were the sons of David^m born to him in Hebron:

The firstborn was Amnon the son of Ahinoamⁿ of Jezreel;^o

the second, Daniel the son of Abigail^p of Carmel;

²the third, Absalom the son of Maakah daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;

the fourth, Adonijah^q the son of Haggith;

³the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;

and the sixth, Ithream, by his wife Eglah.

⁴These six were born to David in Hebron,^r where he reigned seven years and six months.^s

David reigned in Jerusalem thirty-three years, ⁵and these were the children born to him there:

Shammua,^a Shobab, Nathan and Solomon. These four were by Bathsheba^bt daughter of Ammiel. ⁶There were also Ibhar, Elishua,^c Eliphelet, ⁷Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, ⁸Elishama, Eliada and Eliphelet—nine in all. ⁹All these were the sons of David, besides his sons by his concubines. And Tamar^u was their sister.^v

Josiah^k his son.

¹⁵The sons of Josiah:

Johanan the firstborn,

Jehoiakim^l the second son,

Zedekiah^m the third,

Shallumⁿ the fourth.

¹⁶The successors of Jehoiakim:

Jehoiachin^eo his son,

and Zedekiah.^p

The Royal Line After the Exile

¹⁷The descendants of Jehoiachin the captive:

Shealtiel^q his son, ¹⁸Malkiram, Pedaiah, Shenazzar,^r Jekamiah, Hoshama and Nedabiah.^s

¹⁹The sons of Pedaiah:

Zerubbabel^t and Shimei.

The sons of Zerubbabel:

Meshullam and Hananiah.

Shelomith was their sister.

Hashubah, Ohel, Berekiah, Hasadiah and Jushab-Hesed.

²¹The descendants of Hananiah:

Pelatiah and Jeshaiah, and the sons of Rephaiah, of Arnan, of Obadiah and of Shekaniah.

²²The descendants of Shekaniah:

Shemaiah and his sons:

Hattush,^u Igal, Bariah, Neariah and Shaphat—six in all.

²³The sons of Neariah:

Elioenai, Hizkiah and Azrikam—three in all.

²⁴The sons of Elioenai:

Hodaviah, Eliashib, Pelaiah, Akkub, Johanan, Delaiah and Anani—seven in all.
