Read in Logos
Judges 6:13–14: And Gideon said to him, “… if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? … the LORD has forsaken us and given us into the hand of Midian.” And the LORD … said, “Go … and save Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?”

Footnotes

  1. 32 Some interpreters equate the Lord and the messenger in this story, but they are more likely distinct. In vv. 22–23 the Lord and Gideon continue to carry on a conversation after the messenger has vanished (v. 21).
  2. 33 Heb “Go in this strength of yours.”
  3. 34 Heb “the hand of Midian.”
