11:26I have been on journeys many times, in dangers from rivers, in dangers from robbers,45 in dangers from my own countrymen, in dangers from Gentiles, in dangers in the city, in dangers in the wilderness,46 in dangers at sea, in dangers from false brothers, 11:27in hard work and toil,47 through many sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, many times without food, in cold and without enough clothing.48
Footnotes
- 45 Or “bandits.” The word normally refers more to highwaymen (“robbers”) but can also refer to insurrectionists or revolutionaries (“bandits”).
- 46 Or “desert.”
- 47 The two different words for labor are translated “in hard work and toil” by L&N 42.48.
- 48 Grk “in cold and nakedness.” Paul does not mean complete nakedness, however, which would have been repugnant to a Jew; he refers instead to the lack of sufficient clothing, especially in cold weather. A related word is used to 1 Cor 4:11, also in combination with experiencing hunger and thirst.

NIVNew International Version (2011)
I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers. I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked.

NLTNew Living Translation
I have traveled on many long journeys. I have faced danger from rivers and from robbers. I have faced danger from my own people, the Jews, as well as from the Gentiles. I have faced danger in the cities, in the deserts, and on the seas. And I have faced danger from men who claim to be believers but are not. I have worked hard and long, enduring many sleepless nights. I have been hungry and thirsty and have often gone without food. I have shivered in the cold, without enough clothing to keep me warm.
