Men Seek Jeremiah’s Life

18Moreover, Yahweh amade it known to me, and I knew it;

Then You showed me their deeds.

19But I was like a gentle alamb led to the slaughter;

And I did not know that they had bdevised thoughts against me, saying,

“Let us make the tree with its 1fruit a ruin,

And clet us cut him off from the dland of the living,

That his ename be remembered no more.”

20But, O Yahweh of hosts, who ajudges righteously,

Who btests the 1insides and the heart,

Let me see Your vengeance on them,

For to You have I revealed my case.

ESVEnglish Standard Version

The Lord made it known to me and I knew;

then you showed me their deeds.

But I was like a gentle lamb

led to the slaughter.

I did not know it was against me

they devised schemes, saying,

“Let us destroy the tree with its fruit,

let us cut him off from the land of the living,

that his name be remembered no more.”

But, O Lord of hosts, who judges righteously,

who tests the heart and the mind,

let me see your vengeance upon them,

for to you have I committed my cause.

NIVNew International Version (2011)

Because the Lord revealed their plot to me, I knew it, for at that time he showed me what they were doing. I had been like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter; I did not realize that they had plotted against me, saying,

“Let us destroy the tree and its fruit;

let us cut him off from the land of the living,

that his name be remembered no more.”

But you, Lord Almighty, who judge righteously

and test the heart and mind,

let me see your vengeance on them,

for to you I have committed my cause.

CSBChristian Standard Bible

The Lord informed me, so I knew.

Then you helped me to see their deeds,

for I was like a docile lamb led to slaughter.

I didn’t know that they had devised plots against me:

“Let’s destroy the tree with its fruit;

let’s cut him off from the land of the living

so that his name will no longer be remembered.”

But, Lord of Armies, who judges righteously,

who tests heart and mind,

let me see your vengeance on them,

for I have presented my case to you.

NLTNew Living Translation

Then the Lord told me about the plots my enemies were making against me. I was like a lamb being led to the slaughter. I had no idea that they were planning to kill me! “Let’s destroy this man and all his words,” they said. “Let’s cut him down, so his name will be forgotten forever.”

O Lord of Heaven’s Armies,

you make righteous judgments,

and you examine the deepest thoughts and secrets.

Let me see your vengeance against them,

for I have committed my cause to you.

LEBThe Lexham English Bible

Moreover, Yahweh let it be made known to me, and I knew.

Then you showed me their deeds.

And I was like a gentle ram-lamb that is brought to slaughter,

and I did not know that they planned plans against me, saying,

“Let us destroy the tree with its fruit,

and let us cut him off from the land of the living,

so that his name will no longer be remembered.”

But O Yahweh of hosts, who judges in righteousness,

who tests the inmost being, and the mind,

let me see your retribution upon them,

for to you I have revealed my legal case.

KJV 1900King James Version

And the Lord hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings. But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered. But, O Lord of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.
