16Así dice el Señor:
Reprime tu voz del llanto,
y tus ojos de las lágrimasa;
hay pago para tu trabajob—declara el Señor—,
pues volverán de la tierrac del enemigo.
17Y hay esperanza para tu porvenir—declara el Señora—,
los hijos volverán a su territorio.
18Ciertamente he oído a Efraín lamentarsea:
«Me has castigadob, y castigado fui
como becerro indómitoc.
Hazme volver para que sea restauradod,
pues tú, Señor, eres mi Dios.
19«Porque después que me aparté1, me arrepentía,
y después que comprendí, me di golpes en el muslob;
me avergoncé y también me humillé,
porque llevaba el oprobio de mi juventudc».
