9For mto this end Christ both ndied, and rose, and orevived, that he might be pLord both qof the dead and living.

10But ewhy dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou rset at nought thy brother? for swe shall all stand before tthe judgment seat of Christ. 11For it is written, uAs I live, saith the Lord, wevery knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12So then xevery one of us shall give account of himself to God. 13eLet us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, ythat no man put a zstumblingblock or aan occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

ESVEnglish Standard Version

For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; for it is written,

“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me,

and every tongue shall confess to God.”

So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.

NIVNew International Version (2011)

For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written:

“ ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,

‘every knee will bow before me;

every tongue will acknowledge God.’ ”

So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.

Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.

CSBChristian Standard Bible

Christ died and returned to life for this: that he might be Lord over both the dead and the living. But you, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or you, why do you despise your brother or sister? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. For it is written,

As I live, says the Lord,

every knee will bow to me,

and every tongue will give praise to God.

So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.

Therefore, let us no longer judge one another. Instead decide never to put a stumbling block or pitfall in the way of your brother or sister.

NLTNew Living Translation

Christ died and rose again for this very purpose—to be Lord both of the living and of the dead.

So why do you condemn another believer? Why do you look down on another believer? Remember, we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. For the Scriptures say,

“ ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord,

‘every knee will bend to me,

and every tongue will declare allegiance praise to God.’ ”

Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall.

LEBThe Lexham English Bible

For Christ died and became alive again for this reason, in order that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.

But why do you judge your brother? Or also, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. For it is written,

“As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to me,

and every tongue will praise God.”

So each one of us will give an account concerning himself.

Therefore, let us no longer pass judgment on one another, but rather decide this: not to place a cause for stumbling or a temptation before a brother.
