Isaiah 8:22–9:4

²²And ^cthey shall look unto the earth;

And behold ^dtrouble and darkness, ^edimness of ^danguish;

And they shall be driven to darkness.

9Nevertheless ^athe dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation,

When at the ^bfirst ^che lightly afflicted ^dthe land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,

And ^eafterward ^fdid more grievously afflict her ^dby the way of the sea,

^gBeyond Jordan, ^hin Galilee ^||of ⁱthe nations.

²The ^djpeople ^kthat walked in darkness have seen a great light:

They that dwell in the land of ^lthe shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

^3llThou hast multiplied the nation, and ^||not increased the joy:

They joy before thee according to the ^mjoy in harvest,

And ⁿas men rejoice when ^othey divide the spoil.

^4||For thou hast broken ^pthe yoke of his burden, and ^qthe staff of his shoulder,

^qThe rod of his oppressor, as in ^rthe day of ^sMidian.
