ESVEnglish Standard Version

They cast their silver into the streets, and their gold is like an unclean thing. Their silver and gold are not able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord. They cannot satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs with it. For it was the stumbling block of their iniquity. His beautiful ornament they used for pride, and they made their abominable images and their detestable things of it. Therefore I make it an unclean thing to them.

NIVNew International Version (2011)

“ ‘They will throw their silver into the streets,

and their gold will be treated as a thing unclean.

Their silver and gold

will not be able to deliver them

in the day of the Lord’s wrath.

It will not satisfy their hunger

or fill their stomachs,

for it has caused them to stumble into sin.

They took pride in their beautiful jewelry

and used it to make their detestable idols.

They made it into vile images;

therefore I will make it a thing unclean for them.

CSBChristian Standard Bible

They will throw their silver into the streets,

and their gold will seem like something filthy.

Their silver and gold will be unable to save them

in the day of the Lord’s wrath.

They will not satisfy their appetites

or fill their stomachs,

for these were the stumbling blocks

that brought about their iniquity.

He appointed his beautiful ornaments for majesty,

but they made their detestable images from them,

their abhorrent things.

Therefore, I have made these

into something filthy to them.

NLTNew Living Translation

“They will throw their money in the streets,

tossing it out like worthless trash.

Their silver and gold won’t save them

on that day of the Lord’s anger.

It will neither satisfy nor feed them,

for their greed can only trip them up.

They were proud of their beautiful jewelry

and used it to make detestable idols and vile images.

Therefore, I will make all their wealth

disgusting to them.

LEBThe Lexham English Bible

Their silver they will discard on the streets, and filth will be their gold; their silver and their gold will not be able to rescue them on the day of the wrath of Yahweh. They will not satisfy their hunger and their stomachs they will not fill, for their guilt will be their stumbling block.

“ ‘And the beauty of its ornament he made into a prideful thing and made with it their detestable things and their vile idols; therefore I will make it into an impure thing for them.
