Edom’s Sins against Judah
10You will be covered with shame
and destroyed forever
because of violence done to your brother Jacob. b
11On the day you stood aloof, c
on the day strangers captured his wealth, d
while foreigners entered his gate
and cast lots for Jerusalem, e
you were just like one of them. f
12Do not ggloat over your brother h
in the day of his calamity;
do not rejoice over the people of Judah i
in the day of their destruction;
in the day of distress. l
13Do not enter the gate of My people
in the day of their disaster. m
Yes, you—do not gloat over their misery
in the day of their disaster
and do not appropriate their possessions n
in the day of their disaster.
14Do not stand at the crossroads op
to cut off their fugitives,
and do not hand over their survivors
in the day of distress.
Judgment of the Nations
15For the Day of the Lord qis near,
against all the nations. r
As you have done, sso it will be done to you;
what you deserve will return on your own head. t
16As you have drunk on My holy mountain, u
so all the nations will drink continually. v
They will drink and gulp down
and be as though they had never been.
