Proverbs 2:1–5 — The New International Version (NIV)

My son, if you accept my words

and store up my commands within you,

turning your ear to wisdom

and applying your heart to understanding—

indeed, if you call out for insight

and cry aloud for understanding,

and if you look for it as for silver

and search for it as for hidden treasure,

then you will understand the fear of the Lord

and find the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:1–5 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

My son, if thou wilt receive my words,

And hide my commandments with thee;

So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom,

And apply thine heart to understanding;

Yea, if thou criest after knowledge,

And liftest up thy voice for understanding;

If thou seekest her as silver,

And searchest for her as for hid treasures;

Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord,

And find the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:1–5 — New Living Translation (NLT)

My child, listen to what I say,

and treasure my commands.

Tune your ears to wisdom,

and concentrate on understanding.

Cry out for insight,

and ask for understanding.

Search for them as you would for silver;

seek them like hidden treasures.

Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord,

and you will gain knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:1–5 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you,

So that you incline your ear to wisdom,

And apply your heart to understanding;

Yes, if you cry out for discernment,

And lift up your voice for understanding,

If you seek her as silver,

And search for her as for hidden treasures;

Then you will understand the fear of the Lord,

And find the knowledge of God.

and remember what I command you.

Listen carefully to wisdom;

set your mind on understanding.

and hunt for it like hidden treasure.

Then you will understand respect for the Lord,

and you will find that you know God.

Proverbs 2:1–5 — American Standard Version (ASV 1901)

My son, if thou wilt receive my words,

And lay up my commandments with thee;

So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom,

And apply thy heart to understanding;

Yea, if thou cry after discernment,

And lift up thy voice for understanding;

If thou seek her as silver,

And search for her as for hid treasures:

Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah,

And find the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:1–5 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

My son, if thou receivest my words, and layest up my commandments with thee, so that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom and thou apply thy heart to understanding; yea, if thou criest after discernment and liftest up thy voice to understanding; if thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hidden treasures: then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, and find the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:1–5 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

My son,

if you take my words ⸤to heart⸥

and treasure my commands within you,

if you pay close attention to wisdom,

and let your mind reach for understanding,

if indeed you call out for insight,

if you ask aloud for understanding,

if you search for wisdom as if it were money

and hunt for it as if it were hidden treasure,

then you will understand the fear of the Lord

and you will find the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:1–5 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

My son, if you accept my words

and store up my commands within you,

listening closely to wisdom

and directing your heart to understanding;

and lift your voice to understanding,

if you seek it like silver

and search for it like hidden treasure,

then you will understand the fear of the Lord

and discover the knowledge of God.
