12 It has frustrated all efforts;

its heavy deposit has not been removed,

not even by fire.

12 She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire.

12 But it’s hopeless;

the corruption can’t be cleaned out.

So throw it into the fire.

12 She has grown weary with lies,

And her great scum has not gone from her.

Let her scum be in the fire!

12 But efforts to clean the pot have failed.

Its heavy rust cannot be removed,

even in the fire.

12 She hath wearied herself with toil; yet her great rust goeth not forth out of her; her rust goeth not forth by fire.

12 She hath exhausted her labours, yet her great rust goeth not forth out of her: let her rust be in the fire.

12 “ ‘I have worn myself out trying to clean this pot. Even the fire can’t take away its thick tarnish.

12 In vain I have wearied myself;

its thick rust does not depart.

To the fire with its rust!

12 Through effort she has caused weariness; its thick rust went not out of it. Its rust! Into the fire with its rust!

12 But it can’t be cleaned up.

Its thick scum has not been removed.

Even fire can’t burn it off.

12 “She has wearied Me with toil,

Yet her great rust has not gone from her;

Let her rust be in the fire!
