2Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre: Thus saith the Lord God: Because thy heart is lifted up, and thou hast said: I am God, and I sit in the chair of God in the heart of the sea: whereas thou art a man, and not God: and hast set thy heart as if it were the heart of God.

3Behold thou art wiser than Daniel: no secret is hid from thee.

4In thy wisdom and thy understanding thou hast made thyself strong: and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures.

5By the greatness of thy wisdom, and by thy traffic thou hast increased thy strength: and thy heart is lifted up with thy strength.

6Therefore, thus saith the Lord God: Because thy heart is lifted up as the heart of God:

7Therefore behold, I will bring upon thee strangers: the strongest of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy beauty.

8They shall kill thee, and bring thee down: and thou shalt die the death of them that are slain in the heart of the sea.

ESVEnglish Standard Version

“Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord God:

“Because your heart is proud,

and you have said, ‘I am a god,

I sit in the seat of the gods,

in the heart of the seas,’

yet you are but a man, and no god,

though you make your heart like the heart of a god—

you are indeed wiser than Daniel;

no secret is hidden from you;

by your wisdom and your understanding

you have made wealth for yourself,

and have gathered gold and silver

into your treasuries;

by your great wisdom in your trade

you have increased your wealth,

and your heart has become proud in your wealth—

therefore thus says the Lord God:

Because you make your heart

like the heart of a god,

therefore, behold, I will bring foreigners upon you,

the most ruthless of the nations;

and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom

and defile your splendor.

They shall thrust you down into the pit,

and you shall die the death of the slain

in the heart of the seas.

NIVNew International Version (2011)

“Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“ ‘In the pride of your heart

you say, “I am a god;

I sit on the throne of a god

in the heart of the seas.”

But you are a mere mortal and not a god,

though you think you are as wise as a god.

Are you wiser than Daniel?

Is no secret hidden from you?

By your wisdom and understanding

you have gained wealth for yourself

and amassed gold and silver

in your treasuries.

By your great skill in trading

you have increased your wealth,

and because of your wealth

your heart has grown proud.

“ ‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“ ‘Because you think you are wise,

as wise as a god,

I am going to bring foreigners against you,

the most ruthless of nations;

they will draw their swords against your beauty and wisdom

and pierce your shining splendor.

They will bring you down to the pit,

and you will die a violent death

in the heart of the seas.

CSBChristian Standard Bible

“Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre, ‘This is what the Lord God says: Your heart is proud, and you have said, “I am a god; I sit in the seat of gods in the heart of the sea.” Yet you are a man and not a god, though you have regarded your heart as that of a god. Yes, you are wiser than Daniel; no secret is hidden from you! By your wisdom and understanding you have acquired wealth for yourself. You have acquired gold and silver for your treasuries. By your great skill in trading you have increased your wealth, but your heart has become proud because of your wealth.

“ ‘Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:

Because you regard your heart as that of a god,

I am about to bring strangers against you,

ruthless men from the nations.

They will draw their swords

against your magnificent wisdom

and will pierce your splendor.

They will bring you down to the Pit,

and you will die a violent death

in the heart of the sea.

NLTNew Living Translation

“Son of man, give the prince of Tyre this message from the Sovereign Lord:

“In your great pride you claim, ‘I am a god!

I sit on a divine throne in the heart of the sea.’

But you are only a man and not a god,

though you boast that you are a god.

You regard yourself as wiser than Daniel

and think no secret is hidden from you.

With your wisdom and understanding you have amassed great wealth—

gold and silver for your treasuries.

Yes, your wisdom has made you very rich,

and your riches have made you very proud.

“Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says:

Because you think you are as wise as a god,

I will now bring against you a foreign army,

the terror of the nations.

They will draw their swords against your marvelous wisdom

and defile your splendor!

They will bring you down to the pit,

and you will die in the heart of the sea,

pierced with many wounds.

LEBThe Lexham English Bible

“Son of man, say to the leader of Tyre, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh:

“Because your heart was haughty,

and you said, ‘I am a god;

I sit in the seat of the gods,

I sit in the heart of the seas!’

But you are a human, not a god,

and you gave your heart to be like the heart of a god.

Look, are you wiser than Daniel,

so that no secret is hidden from you?

By your wisdom and by your understanding

you have gained for yourself wealth,

and you have amassed gold and silver

in your treasuries.

By the abundance of your wisdom in your trading

you have increased your wealth

and your heart was proud in your wealth.” ’ ”

Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh:

“Because of your regarding your mind

like the mind of a god,

therefore look! I am bringing strangers over you,

the most ruthless of the peoples,

and they will draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom,

and they will defile your splendor.

They will thrust you down to the pit,

and you will die a violent death

in the heart of the seas.

KJV 1900King James Version

Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God: Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee: With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures: By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches: Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God; Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.
