25Husbands, love your own wives, even as the Christ also loved the assembly, and has delivered himself up for it, 26in order that he might sanctify it, purifying it by the washing of water by the word, 27that he might present the assembly to himself glorious, having no spot, or wrinkle, or any of such things; but that it might be holy and blameless.

NLTNew Living Translation
For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault.
