2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;

and I have been saved from my enemies.

the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.

the torrents of destruction assailed me;

He is my shield, the power that saves me,

and my place of safety.

I can run to him for safety.

He is my shield and my saving strength, my defender.

4 The ropes of death came around me;

the deadly rivers overwhelmed me.

2 Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my •God, my rock, in whom I will trust; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower. 3 I will call upon Jehovah, who is to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. 4 The bands of death encompassed me, and torrents of Belial made me afraid.

4 The ropes of death encircled me,

and streams of ruin overwhelmed me.

2 The Lord is my rock and my fort. He is the One who saves me.

My God is my rock. I go to him for safety.

He is like a shield to me. He’s the power that saves me. He’s my place of safety.

3 I call out to the Lord. He is worthy of praise.

He saves me from my enemies.

4 The ropes of death were almost wrapped around me.

A destroying flood swept over me.
