Ahab, King of Israel (אַחְאָב, ach'av). Son of king Omri and seventh ruler of Israel (i.e., the northern kingdom) from 874–853 bc; husband of Jezebel, father of Ahaziah and Jehoram (of Israel), and father-in-law of Jehoram and Ahaziah (of Judah). The name “Ahab” (אַחְאָב, ach'av) likely means “a father’s brother,” or “uncle.”
