Achor, Valley Of (עֵמֶק עָכוֹר, emeq akhor). A valley near Jericho where Achan and his family were stoned and burned to death for taking forbidden items from Jericho (Josh 7:24–26; 15:7; compare Isa 65:10; Hos 2:15). The term עָכוֹר (akhor) means “trouble” and the book of Joshua seems to ascribe the name of the location to the events of Josh 7:24–26.
