John 6:40–47

40and this is the will of Him who sent me, that every one who is beholding the Son, and is believing in him, may have life age-during, and I will raise him up in the last day.’ 41The Jews, therefore, were murmuring at him, because he said, ‘I am the bread that came down out of the heaven;’ 42and they said, ‘Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we have known? how then saith this one—Out of the heaven I have come down?’ 43Jesus answered, therefore, and said to them, Murmur not one with another; 44no one is able to come unto me, if the Father who sent me may not draw him, and I will raise him up in the last day; 45it is having been written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God; every one therefore who heard from the Father, and learned, cometh to me; 46not that any one hath seen the Father, except he who is from God, he hath seen the Father.

John 6:40–47 — The New International Version (NIV)

40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

41 At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, I am the bread that came down from heaven.” 42 They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, I came down from heaven?”

43 Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus answered. 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets:They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me. 46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. 47 Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.

43 Jesus responded, “Stop criticizing me! 44 People cannot come to me unless the Father who sent me brings them to me. I will bring these people back to life on the last day. 45 The prophets wrote, ‘God will teach everyone.’ Those who do what they have learned from the Father come to me. 46 I’m saying that no one has seen the Father. Only the one who is from God has seen the Father. 47 I can guarantee this truth: Every believer has eternal life.
