Micah 7:1–2

The Total Corruption of the People

7 Woe is me! For I have become like one who,

after the summer fruit has been gathered,

after the vintage has been gleaned,

finds no cluster to eat;

there is no first-ripe fig for which I hunger.

2 The faithful have disappeared from the land,

and there is no one left who is upright;

they all lie in wait for blood,

and they hunt each other with nets.

Micah 7:1–2 — The New International Version (NIV)

What misery is mine!

I am like one who gathers summer fruit

at the gleaning of the vineyard;

there is no cluster of grapes to eat,

none of the early figs that I crave.

The faithful have been swept from the land;

not one upright person remains.

Everyone lies in wait to shed blood;

they hunt each other with nets.

Micah 7:1–2 — English Standard Version (ESV)

Woe is me! For I have become

as when the summer fruit has been gathered,

as when the grapes have been gleaned:

there is no cluster to eat,

no first-ripe fig that my soul desires.

The godly has perished from the earth,

and there is no one upright among mankind;

they all lie in wait for blood,

and each hunts the other with a net.

Micah 7:1–2 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits,

As the grapegleanings of the vintage:

There is no cluster to eat:

My soul desired the firstripe fruit.

The good man is perished out of the earth:

And there is none upright among men:

They all lie in wait for blood;

They hunt every man his brother with a net.

Micah 7:1–2 — New Living Translation (NLT)

How miserable I am!

I feel like the fruit picker after the harvest

who can find nothing to eat.

Not a cluster of grapes or a single early fig

can be found to satisfy my hunger.

The godly people have all disappeared;

not one honest person is left on the earth.

They are all murderers,

setting traps even for their own brothers.

Micah 7:1–2 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

Woe is me!

For I am like those who gather summer fruits,

Like those who glean vintage grapes;

There is no cluster to eat

Of the first-ripe fruit which my soul desires.

The faithful man has perished from the earth,

And there is no one upright among men.

They all lie in wait for blood;

Every man hunts his brother with a net.

Micah 7:1–2 — New Century Version (NCV)

Poor me! I am like a hungry man,

and all the summer fruit has been picked—

there are no grapes left to eat,

none of the early figs I love.

All of the faithful people are gone;

there is not one good person left in this country.

Everyone is waiting to kill someone;

everyone is trying to trap someone else.

Micah 7:1–2 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grape gleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat; my soul desireth the first-ripe fig. The godly man is perished out of the earth, and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

Micah 7:1–2 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer-fruits, as the grape-gleanings of the vintage. There is no cluster to eat; there is no early fruit which my soul desired. The godly man hath perished out of the land, and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood, they hunt every man his brother with a net.

Micah 7:1–2 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

Poor me!

I am like those gathering summer fruit,

like those picking grapes.

But there aren’t any grapes to eat

or any ripened figs that I crave.

Faithful people are gone from the earth,

and no one is decent.

All people lie in ambush to commit murder.

They trap each other with nets.

Micah 7:1–2 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

How sad for me!

For I am like one who—

when the summer fruit has been gathered

after the gleaning of the grape harvest —

finds no grape cluster to eat,

no early fig, which I crave.

Godly people have vanished from the land;

there is no one upright among the people.

All of them wait in ambush to shed blood;

they hunt each other with a net.

Micah 7:1–2 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

Woe is me! For I have become

like the gatherings of summer,

like the gleanings of the grape harvest,

when there is no cluster of grapes to eat

or early ripened fruit that my soul desires.

The faithful person has perished from the land,

and there is none who is upright among humankind.

All of them lie in wait for blood;

each hunts his brother with a net.

Micah 7:1–2 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

I’m suffering very much!

I’m like someone who gathers summer fruit in a vineyard

after the good fruit has already been picked.

No grapes are left to eat.

None of the early figs I long for remain.

Faithful people have disappeared from the land.

Those who are honest are gone.

All men hide and wait

to spill the blood of others.

They use nets to try and trap one another.

Micah 7:1–2 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

Woe is me! For I am

Like the fruit pickers, like the grape gatherers.

There is not a cluster of grapes to eat,

Or a first-ripe fig which I crave.

The godly person has perished from the land,

And there is no upright person among men.

All of them lie in wait for bloodshed;

Each of them hunts the other with a net.
