20 “Whoever sacrifices to any god other than the Lord must be destroyed.

21 “Do not mistreat or oppress a foreigner, for you were foreigners in Egypt.

22 “Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless. 23 If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry. 24 My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless.

25 “If you lend money to one of my people among you who is needy, do not treat it like a business deal; charge no interest. 26 If you take your neighbor’s cloak as a pledge, return it by sunset,

20 “Whoever sacrifices to any god, other than the Lord alone, shall be devoted to destruction.

21 “You shall not wrong a sojourner or oppress him, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. 22 You shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child. 23 If you do mistreat them, and they cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry, 24 and my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.

25 “If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you shall not be like a moneylender to him, and you shall not exact interest from him. 26 If ever you take your neighbor’s cloak in pledge, you shall return it to him before the sun goes down,

25 “If you lend money to any of my people who are in need, do not charge interest as a money lender would. 26 If you take your neighbor’s cloak as security for a loan, you must return it before sunset.

25 “If you lend money to any of My people who are poor among you, you shall not be like a moneylender to him; you shall not charge him interest. 26 If you ever take your neighbor’s garment as a pledge, you shall return it to him before the sun goes down.

20 “Destroy completely any person who makes a sacrifice to any god except the Lord.

21 “Do not cheat or hurt a foreigner, because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

22 “Do not cheat a widow or an orphan. 23 If you do, and they cry out to me for help, I certainly will hear their cry. 24 And I will be very angry and kill you in war. Then your wives will become widows, and your children will become orphans.

25 “If you lend money to one of my people who is poor, do not treat him as a moneylender would. Charge him nothing for using your money. 26 If your neighbor gives you his coat as a promise for the money he owes you, you must give it back to him by sunset,

21 “ ‘You will not mistreat an alien, and you will not oppress him, because you were aliens in the land of Egypt.

22 “ ‘You will not afflict any widow or orphan. 23 If you indeed afflict him, yes, if he cries out at all to me, I will certainly hear his cry of distress. 24 And I will become angry, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives will be widows and your children orphans.

25 “ ‘If you lend money to my people, to the needy with you, you will not be to him as a creditor; you will not charge him interest. 26 If indeed you require the cloak of your neighbor as a pledge, you will return it to him at sundown,

20 “Anyone who sacrifices to any god other than me must be destroyed.

21 “Do not treat outsiders badly. Do not beat them down. Remember, you were outsiders in Egypt.

22 “Do not take advantage of widows. Do not take advantage of children whose fathers have died.

23 “If you do, they might cry out to me. Then I will certainly hear them. 24 And I will get angry. I will kill you with a sword. Your wives will become widows. Your children’s fathers will die.

25 “Suppose you lend money to one of my people among you who is in need. Then do not be like those who lend money and charge interest. Do not charge any interest.

26 “Suppose your neighbor owes you money and gives you a coat as a promise to pay it back. Then return it to him by sunset.
