Psalm 5:8–9 — The New International Version (NIV)

Lead me, Lord, in your righteousness

because of my enemies—

make your way straight before me.

their heart is filled with malice.

Their throat is an open grave;

with their tongues they tell lies.

Psalm 5:8–9 — English Standard Version (ESV)

their inmost self is destruction;

their throat is an open grave;

they flatter with their tongue.

Psalm 5:8–9 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Their inward part is very wickedness;

Their throat is an open sepulchre;

They flatter with their tongue.

Psalm 5:8–9 — New Living Translation (NLT)

Lead me in the right path, O Lord,

or my enemies will conquer me.

Make your way plain for me to follow.

My enemies cannot speak a truthful word.

Their deepest desire is to destroy others.

Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave.

Their tongues are filled with flattery.

Psalm 5:8–9 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

Their throat is an open tomb;

They flatter with their tongue.

Psalm 5:8–9 — New Century Version (NCV)

Lord, since I have many enemies,

My enemies’ mouths do not tell the truth;

in their hearts they want to destroy others.

Their throats are like open graves;

they use their tongues for telling lies.

Psalm 5:8–9 — American Standard Version (ASV)

Lead me, O Jehovah, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies;

Make thy way straight before my face.

For there is no faithfulness in their mouth;

Their inward part is very wickedness;

Their throat is an open sepulchre;

They flatter with their tongue.

Psalm 5:8–9 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

Lead me, Jehovah, in thy righteousness, because of my foes; make thy way plain before me. For there is no certainty in their mouth; their inward part is perversion, their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.

Psalm 5:8–9 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

O Lord, lead me in your righteousness because of those who spy on me.

Make your way in front of me smooth.

Nothing in their mouths is truthful.

Destruction comes from their hearts.

Their throats are open graves.

They flatter with their tongues.

Psalm 5:8–9 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

their throat is an open grave;

they flatter with their tongues.

Psalm 5:8–9 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

with their tongue they speak deceit.

Psalm 5:8–9 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

Lord, I have many enemies.

Lead me in your right path.

Their hearts are filled with plans to destroy others.

Their throats are like open graves.

With their tongues they tell lies.

Psalm 5:8–9 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)
