Psalm 131:1–3
1 Lord, my heart is not proud;
my eyes are not haughty.
I don’t concern myself with matters too great
or too awesome for me to grasp.
2 Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself,
like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk.
Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
3 O Israel, put your hope in the Lord—
now and always.
Psalm 131:1–3 — The New International Version (NIV)
1 My heart is not proud, Lord,
my eyes are not haughty;
I do not concern myself with great matters
or things too wonderful for me.
2 But I have calmed and quieted myself,
I am like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child I am content.
3 Israel, put your hope in the Lord
both now and forevermore.
Psalm 131:1–3 — English Standard Version (ESV)
1 O Lord, my heart is not lifted up;
my eyes are not raised too high;
I do not occupy myself with things
too great and too marvelous for me.
2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child is my soul within me.
3 O Israel, hope in the Lord
from this time forth and forevermore.
Psalm 131:1–3 — King James Version (KJV 1900)
1 Lord, My heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty:
Neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.
2 Surely I have behaved and quieted myself,
As a child that is weaned of his mother:
My soul is even as a weaned child.
3 Let Israel hope in the Lord
From henceforth and for ever.
Psalm 131:1–3 — The New King James Version (NKJV)
1 Lord, my heart is not haughty,
Nor my eyes lofty.
Neither do I concern myself with great matters,
Nor with things too profound for me.
2 Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul,
Like a weaned child with his mother;
Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
3 O Israel, hope in the Lord
From this time forth and forever.
Psalm 131:1–3 — New Century Version (NCV)
1 Lord, my heart is not proud;
I don’t look down on others.
I don’t do great things,
and I can’t do miracles.
2 But I am calm and quiet,
like a baby with its mother.
I am at peace, like a baby with its mother.
3 People of Israel, put your hope in the Lord
now and forever.
Psalm 131:1–3 — American Standard Version (ASV)
1 Jehovah, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty;
Neither do I exercise myself in great matters,
Or in things too wonderful for me.
2 Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul;
Like a weaned child with his mother,
Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
3 O Israel, hope in Jehovah
From this time forth and for evermore.
Psalm 131:1–3 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
1 Jehovah, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty; neither do I exercise myself in great matters, and in things too wonderful for me. 2 Surely I have restrained and composed my soul, like a weaned child with its mother: my soul within me is as a weaned child. 3 Let Israel hope in Jehovah, from henceforth and for evermore.
Psalm 131:1–3 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
1 O Lord, my heart is not conceited.

My soul is content as a weaned child is content in its mother’s arms.
3 Israel, put your hope in the Lord now and forever.

both now and forever.

my soul is like the weaned child that is with me.
3 O Israel, hope in the Lord
from this time on and forevermore.

from now until forever.

like a young child in its mother’s arms.
Deep down inside me, I am as content as a young child.

both now and forever.

My soul is like a weaned child within me.
