4When you cross the Jordan, set up these stones at Mount Ebal and coat them with plaster, as I am commanding you today.

5“Then build an altar there to the Lord your God, using natural, uncut stones. You must not shape the stones with an iron tool. 6Build the altar of uncut stones, and use it to offer burnt offerings to the Lord your God. 7Also sacrifice peace offerings on it, and celebrate by feasting there before the Lord your God. 8You must clearly write all these instructions on the stones coated with plaster.”

And when you cross the Jordan, you shall set up these stones that I am commanding you about today on Mount Ebal, and you shall paint them with lime. And you shall build an altar there for Yahweh your God, an altar of stone, but you shall not use an iron tool to shape the stones. You must build the altar of your God with unhewn stones, and you shall sacrifice on it burnt offerings to Yahweh your God. And you shall sacrifice fellowship offerings, and you shall eat them there, and you shall rejoice before Yahweh your God. You shall write on the stone all of the words of this law very clearly.”

KJV 1900King James Version

Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaister them with plaister. And there shalt thou build an altar unto the Lord thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them. Thou shalt build the altar of the Lord thy God of whole stones: and thou shalt offer burnt offerings thereon unto the Lord thy God: And thou shalt offer peace offerings, and shalt eat there, and rejoice before the Lord thy God. And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.
